Experts say Gingrich moon base dreams not lunacy

Discuss this post

It isn't the science that is lunacy; it's the idea that we can afford an endeavor like this any time in the foreseeable future. He's talking out of his posterior, as usual.

I'm in favor of a colony on the moon if Newt would live there.

I'll even volunteer to pay his fare. A one-way ticket, of course! Hey Newt, call me.

And he can take his space alien wife with him.

How much will Gingrich have to raise taxes to pay for it. Or will it be another trillion dollars and deeper in debt.

At least he not proposing to waste a trillion dollars trying to establish a stable democracy in a foreign country that's never had one.

It depends on just how many lives we are willing to risk in colonizing
the moon. I could do it on the cheap, but people believe we can explore space,
the moon, or other planets without casualties. Wrong !!

I would not mind being launched onto the moon, alone with a shovel, electrolysis tool, air-lock, a stimulate feeder tube, compass and a 20% chance of escape. The ultimate fear factor series. "See which teams or
individual can dig / survive for a meet up and return alive" And, at the same time opening, exploiting a true sense of exploration, again.

Seriously. Even if I didn't make it back to earth, what a trip it would be !!!

Gingrich may be a philandering, dishonest, right wing extremist (just like the lefties on the other side of the aisle) but he is not stupid, this has been on the books since the Apollo missions, we were just a little diverted. Let's hope we can do a much better job in visiting other planets than we have done with ours, after all, who wants to look up at a garbage dump where the moon used to be.

I wonder just what credentials someone needs to be an "expert" on lunar colonization.
